Kevin I have the latest update, I keep an eye on the sight in case the exel schedule is updated and download it as necessary. I don't even have an issue with them being on the range grounds. My issue was that they were on BOTH ranges. Although it's in the charter they can carry on site, I don't think they should. LEO have more accidental discharge injuries than the whole rest of the country percentage wise, having insurance isn't going to bring me back to life if I am accidentally shot. Most ranges like Wicens for example do NOT allow LEO to carry on sight, they can only have them on the range. And again not to stress the point too much, permit holders are more responsible, have less accidents, and are more law abiding people (statistically) than Police Officers, statistics are not available for separate entities such as Prisons, Juvenile, Dept of the Navy, DHS etc. but I suspect they are similar. I'm not advocating open carry everywhere on the property. That being said there has been an uptick of armed gun robberies at gun ranges all over PA, it's one of the reasons I hesitated joining and is right up there with gun free zones and businesses like Target and IKEA who have a no firearms policy (which I ignore) as far as I'm concerned. I follow the rules at our range, but I'd like to see concealed permit holders be able to conceal carry on site but NOT with a firearm they are planning on shooting that range session. I totally understand the idea that unholstering a gun at the range could lead to safety issues. |
