My wife and I are looking into getting a German Shepherd because we are very fond of the breed for their diversity.
We are home pretty often, and I know with a puppy we can be home more often because our jobs are so flexible. But when they grow old enough can they be left in a crate all day? There is only like 1 or 2 days out of the week we are gone for about 6 or 7 hours. And even then I can have someone let the dog out if need be. Also, Do the males typically like to mark their territory in the house? Or is that easily trainable to not have them do that? And for some reason or another every shepherd Male I have encountered has been pretty mellow and the girls seemed to be a little bit more high strung. I'm not sure if that's the age or the owner or whatever. Because we are first time owners is there a better gender to choose for our first one? I know its a lot of questions but we are just so in love with these amazing animals. Thank You
Sincerely
