The Army Corp dropped the flow rate to 47cfs yesterday. I suspect that at this flow, especially with the high summer air temperatures, the survival of the trout near the end of the 2.2-mile trout fishery will be threatened. So I ask, what is the rush to empty the lake to summer pool level in the middle of the summer when the threat of flooding is almost nonexistent? Do we really believe that the Brookville Reservoir shore owners care if it takes 3 weeks rather then 3 days for the lake to drop from 6 inches over summer pool to exactly summer pool level? Why not lower the lake slowly at a more trout-friendly rate, say 100cfs? There appears to be no risk, and yet the benefit could be immense. |
