Thank you all so much for the great turnout at our Friends Reception Thursday night and at our Frontier Fort Christmas Friday night! Special thanks to Jack Caldwell, who allowed us to have our Reception at his wonderful historic home on College Street, and to those that contributed to our delicious menu that evening. The Reception also featured two special presentations that the FHC is certainly thankful for - a $1000 gift from the Nathaniel Macon Chapter N.S.D.A.R. and a $200 gift from the General John Clark Chapter USD 1812! Special thanks to Buster Grubbs and the Ocmulgee Blacksmith Guild, who not only demonstrated their skill so well, but also at night's end presented us with a great hand wrought door handle for the Blockhouse Replica, and much thanks to those FHC Members that attended our Friday night candlelight event (with a particular thanks to the powers that be for the surprisingly nice weather!). We had way over 50 folks at each event and I will be sending you a photo album of both events, but I just had to share with you now this fantasic fort photograph as our Friday night crowd gathered (including Cub Scout Pack 10) atop Fort Hill, a gorgeous sunset unfolded as the constellation-like city lights of Macon twinkled and the blacksmith's forge and fort campfire flared. We had a grand night both nights and the photo album I will send shortly will testify to this success - thanks to all again! Hope your season continues to be merry and let's all look forward to a very Happy New Year with even more Fort Hawkins successes in 2010!
