Original question: I inherited a Rockola 1493, 1962 vintage. The jukebox does power up, but the only thing working is the selection buttons and the Selector and Write-in Carriage. On some selections it turns to the correct place and then stops. On some it just keeps turning. When it does stop, nothing else happens. The Record Tray does not turn, the Gripper does not raise toward the Record Tray and it appears that none of the motors are turning the gears.

Answer from email: The box has sat too long and things have stuck together. First, with the service switch in the atop position, slide each of the 100 pins in and out several times, then try running it again. It can be several things, but try that first.

Follow up question: After sliding all of the pins in and out. I tried again. When turned on after that, the solenoid hums until I press a selection. Then the write-in carriage turns and stops at the correct selection. After that nothing happens. What is my next step in trying to either unstick the mechanism of the motor/gears for the record magazine or checking the electrical controls for energizing the carriage solenoid. Main questions is if it is a mechanical sticking problem, where should I start in taking apart the gears/motors?
