I think I remember those Newcombs from junior high school! If it's the same one, I believe the motors were made by Alliance, and the spindle was captive in the bearing. Once you remove the C-ring, just lift the turntable by opposite edges (it will come up 1/8 inch or so) and knock-down on the spindle with the plastic handle of a screwdriver. Should pop right off. Of course you've had 6 months to try to figure this out, and if you are as impatient as I would be, that platter came off some time ago.
The motor mounts should be simple rubber grommets that will pop into the holes in the mounting plate from either side. I don't know a source for the good, soft gummy ones they used back then, but at least use rubber grommets, not vinyl ones. Good luck! |
