Lisa,
I had a bone stimulator for my first bunion surgery.
The bone stimulator salesman told me that he had checked with my insurance and that they would pay for it.
Later, I found out that I had been lied to by the salesperson and it would not be covered by my ins.
It was 5000.00.
I did get it written off by the company because I was strong willed enough to not allow the situation to continue.
Here goes. I used it as instructed 10 days after the surgery.
It caused my foot to turn red (increased circulation) and swell. I healed fine in six weeks.
However, I did a second bunion surgery and never used it. My healing went so well that the surgeon stated five weeks post op " I cannot even see where the bones were cut on the three toes" (great toe, 2nd toe and 3rd toe).Of course, the surgeon had approximated the bones really well obviously.
What I am trying to say is that one should not get too hung up on the bone stimulator because who knows what it is really doing!!?? But, I really had not been having any problems with healing....................
