I have had problems with my big toe for many years now. Initially I was told I had probably broken it and because I did not get treatment at the time arthritis had set in. I had a chielectomy to help but when this didn't work I had a silastic implant. 2 years later I am still having problems and indeed the pain is constant on walking. I have just seen my consultant who has recommended I have a fusion of my toe. He mentioned bone would need to be taken from my pelvis to lengthen my toe and I am really concerned about this. I have a follow-up appointment to see him when procedures will be discussed in more detail but was just wondering if anyone else had experienced this. I am really interested in the procedure that will be done, including pain and follow-up care, ie how long will I be off my foot and how long until I can return to work? Thanks everyone....
