 Subject: large callus on big toe

I have a rather large callus on my big toe. It's really been there for a few years because of hiking and backpacking but ever since I started my job at a retail store it has gotten rather thick. i've been clipping the callus down with fingernail clippers, but is there another way to get/keep it from getting so thick that it becomes uncomfortable?

It's right on the joint of my big toe
