To add to what has already been said. Ask yourself, why are you considering surgery at this point? I would hope that the answer should include but not be limited to the following: pain, stiffness, decreased quality of ambulation, decreased quality of life. With evey surgery there is a risk/reward ratio that one has to consider and if you feel that the potential benefits outweigh the potential complications, then you can help lessen some of your anxiety. Myself as a doc want the best for my patients, so I do my best to make my patients happy, and this means good work. Even the best surgeons in evey field have complications, it's normal and unavoidable, as the body is not a textbook copy everytime. Find a doc who is patient with you and makes you feel comfortable. You'll know when you find that person. Good luck.
