Hello
I have been experiencing something similar with the ball of my right foot especially when driving. I get some relief for a while by pulling up my sock tighter.
I have put it down to having put on some weight lately and perhaps the ball of my foot now has more fat.
I have not been to a chiropodist but think it best to and I intend to.

In the last few month I have started having a odd foot problem that between the ball of my left foot and toes. It feels like my sock is crumbled up in this area whenever I have even the slightest weight on it. When I take my shoe off my sock is always ok. Even when I don't have a sock on it feels like there is a sock bundled up. Does anyone have any idea what the problem is?

Your problem is one of sensory nerve dysfunction, but the finding of the specific cause would require a great deal more investigation, and an absolute determination may never be found.
I defer to "foot-problem-groupie and wannabee foot-doctor," Jerry, who certainly will announce, presently, that he has had, "the exact same symptoms."
Go Jerry . . GO!
