Thank you for the link-it provided quite a bit of information beneficial to my situation. IIs it OK with you if I print out the info and take it with me to my appointment?

We are lucky to have top notch insurance which also provides us with an "out-of-network" plan of 90%/10%. I, too, would much rather self-pay 100% to get a qualified surgeon with whom I am comfortable. Thankfully I don't have to. You are sooo right--A doctor who can't take the time prior to the procedure to answer your questions certainly won't take the time AFTER it when you really need him.

Out of curiosity-how long does hammer toe surgery take?(like, 45mins vs. 2 hrs...not an exact time--I realize that is dependant upon each case.) Is it local or general anesthesia?
