Thanks for your support, Mary Jo. Not everyone, not even those satisfied with my response, takes the time, as did you, to say "thank you." Good medicine is not necessarily easy to swallow, and I attempt to call it as I see it based on my decades of experience. It is my firm belief that the patient is an essential cog in the doctor/patient relationship, and that a prepared and cooperative patient who has properly vetted his/her doctor, has reasonable expectations and makes reasonable demands of him/her is generally a happy camper. Even the best of medicine comes with no guarantee other than that the doctor has adhered to standards of practice, but sometimes the patient must share the responsibility/credit both for a less than optimum and a satisfactory result. |
