Take a class, that is the best tip of all, never stop growing or learning. Expose yourself to others in your Hobby or Career and keep one eye open as well as an ear. I learned when switching to digital that there was more to learn than I first though, the digital darkroom is just as important as the film developer’s darkroom. This is where the finishing touches are put on your digital shots that can put it head and shoulders above the snap shot “underwater photographer”. Never think you can’t learn from someone, no matter what your personal opinion of that person might be. I have taken instruction from teachers that had no personality or too much to be liked, but I learned from them and that was what I wanted from the relationship, not a friend. “There are not free lunches” and this is true in the underwater photography world, but a fare exchange is no robbery! This is my tip of the year, take a class and learn how to use your camera.
