John, John, John. LOL I am not in need of correcting anything that I have said. I just can't wait to prove to the reading audience how DUMB your arguements are. By the way, John, I "fear you not".
FYI,
2 Timothy 2:15 Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.
is a verse saying that it is PAUL'S word that is to be divided. PAUL's message needs to be divided. A word is a message in this epistle. Paul's w-o-r-d-S forms a WORD. If I ask someone what the word for the day is, they tell me the NEWS. Well, here is some NEWS for those that deny the TRUE RIGHT DIVISION of Paul's WORD!...
(I bet you never noticed that either!)
Here, here is a little word study on WORD and WORDS as Timothy would have understood it in 2 Tim. I will also post some ref. to "truth" in this epistle.
KEEP IN MIND, LOCAL CONTEXTS MUST BE ACCEPTED-can you handle that?!?!

2 Timothy 1:13 Hold fast the form of sound words, which thou hast heard of me, in faith and love which is in Christ Jesus.

2 Timothy 2:8-9 Remember that Jesus Christ of the seed of David was raised from the dead according to my gospel: Wherein I suffer trouble, as an evil doer, even unto bonds; but the word of God is not bound.

2 Timothy 2:15-18 Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth. But shun profane and vain babblings: for they will increase unto more ungodliness. And their word will eat as doth a canker: of whom is Hymenaeus and Philetus; Who concerning the truth have erred, saying that the resurrection is past already; and overthrow the faith of some.

2 Timothy 2:25 In meekness instructing those that oppose themselves; if God peradventure will give them repentance to the acknowledging of the truth;

2 Timothy 4:1-4 I charge thee therefore before God, and the Lord Jesus Christ, who shall judge the quick and the dead at his appearing and his kingdom; Preach the word; be instant in season, out of season; reprove, rebuke, exhort with all longsuffering and doctrine. For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but after their own lusts shall they heap to themselves teachers, having itching ears; And they shall turn away their ears from the truth, and shall be turned unto fables.

2 Timothy 4:15 Of whom be thou ware also; for he hath greatly withstood our words.

2 Timothy 3:7-8 Ever learning, and never able to come to the knowledge of the truth. Now as Jannes and Jambres withstood Moses, so do these also resist the truth: men of corrupt minds, reprobate concerning the faith.

Now, NOBODY would think that Paul meant that to divide the word would be Rom-Philemon because he did not have a BIBLE like we do! He had Paul's WORD. Paul did not say to divide the word that was still being written, or that will one day be layed out by the KJV translators. When Paul told Timothy to divide the word, Timothy would have known exactly what he meant and would have had to have done just that!
Oh, and please, since Paul said that he had all knowledge I would love it if you COULD show just ONE doctrinal revelation that he received between Acts 13 and Acts 28:28. We are stilllllllllll waiting. And when I say "we" I mean all of the people that will be reading these posts SEARCHING for this magical revelation that explains everything. So, come on...manifest! LOL
Grace be with you,
Mike
The salutation of Mike Holt, with my own hand, so I write! LOL
PS. Salutation has the root word of "salute". In the military they SALUTE eachother when they see eachother and when they leave eachother in various functions. So, you see John, there is more than one way to dish out a greeting. Or should I say, "salutATION"?
