I agree fully, anything that makes it easier to get in to the darkroom makes it happen more often.
I look back and realize that I have managed to work two jobs the last 20 years, and have put off a lot of darkroom work, to the point that I have no idea if I will get caught up, so if I see something to make the darkroom easier, I go for it.
However, there are huge changes evidentally, and I can even see myself printing B&W in RA chemistry.
I also am writing from the point of view of someone who has access to most common chemistry, working at a public school and University in the US.
Shipping has gotten more difficult, but probably not as difficult as across the pond.
I have not seen much chemistry in stores as of late, I do remember a large inventory in Seattle, but there are not many real photo stores locally. If I see any darkroom material, it is geared to what the schools require for their students.
That said, I last ordered chemistry from BH.
I remember in Prague, at Skoda Photo, they were still selling the chemicals, plus a lot of current and old chemistry. My friend Jan from Berlin pointed out some interesting developers with characteristics he was looking for, and his suitcase was interestingly filled for the trip home.
I also posted some to myself.
Place was a time capsule, though am not so sure now, last summer they had lots of different brands of paper, much of which may no longer be available.
I am considering buying a freezer for the garage just to stock up on what is left.
I do think we may all be mixing our own in the not too distant future, but I would stock up on anything you really like now. Am pretty sure the shelf life of the dry stuff will be pretty good.
Am not too keen on coating my own papers. ;-)
