4th Annual Fort Hawkins Veterans Day Salute, Veterans Day, Wednesday, November 11, 2009, Fort Hawkins, Emery Highway, Macon, GA, 3:00 p.m., Free Admission
The Fort Hawkins Commission and the Nathaniel Macon Chapter National Society Daughters of the American Revolution cosponsor an official United States of America Flag Retirement Ceremony at the early American frontier fort site. With over fifteen patriotic and historical groups participating, including Boy Scouts of America Troop 911, this solemn and moving ceremony reminds us, on this fitting day, of the sacrifices of all our country's veterans at the place where the first Veterans served in Middle Georgia.
