Bernie, You are wrong. Two years ago I went to many surgeons to get my feet fixed. With severe bunions, hammertoes, and corns my feet were a mess. The first doctors I went to told me I would need several stages of surgery with the breaking of the big toe and the installation of several screws in the bones of my feet. I would have to be off my feet for months and I couldn't shower or bath for weeks after the procedure(which would have to be followed up bu other surgeries to correct the other problems. They offered no options or alternative types of surgery. I then went to a group of surgeons who offered an alternative. Minimally invasive percutaneous surgery. Just like all the other medical specialties are doing. Tiny insicions, no stiches, no screws and best of all, all my problems would be handled in one surgical visit. It was too good to be true. I went back to the doctors I had seen before and they were unable to do this kind of surgery. The also said it couldn't be done that way.
Any way, Lucky for me I didnt listen to them and I went to have it done the new way. I had both feet done the same day and was able to shower the next day. I was in regular shoes right out of the office and was back to work after a week and a half. All the people in the doctors office had simular stories to mine. With minimally invasive percutaneous surgery, It is not only too good to be true, its the only way to do foot surgery. I feel sorry for those doctors who do not know how to do this kind of surgery. They should really take the time and effort to learn how to do it, if not for the sake of the patient, but their own sake. |
