Hi Beth,
I just saw this post and agree with you regards to the lack of professionism that was extended to you. On another note I will point out that most hammer toe procedures are performed in an office surgical setting. The use of a screw is rarely used unless the surgeon is trying to fusion the entire toe. What this means is that the toe won't bend . This may be EXACTLY the goal of your surgeon and the desire you wish to achieve. I also perform one small incision surgical that was pointed out to you by the other doctor. This procedure is an excellent procedure to use with most hammer toe deformities and will give you a long term cured. Good luck. Feel free to ask any addtional questions you may have.

And by the way..Dr. Orzer (or whatever), I am having a screw put into my toe after it is realigned and thankfully, the surgery is being done in a hospital. It is Outpatient surgery, but one would have to be nuts to have something like that done in a doctor's office. Just my 2 cents.
