I know you probably don't even want to think about more foot surgery, but.... There is help for the flat foot problem you have. I don't know who your podiatrist is, buthe's wrong to tell you that there's nothing that can be done. I wasted a year with intense foot pain while my orthopedist tried one thing after another. He obviously didn't know what the problem was. When I went to a real expert (had to travel to to a large city 3 hours away), he diagnosed my problem--yep, flat foot--and explained it all to me. Your problem was caused by removing the plantar fascia--rather drastic to treat heel spurs--they can just take out the spur. That's what supports the arch and when it's gone the arch often collapses. My problem was caused by a damaged tendon in the ankle that had the same result.
The problem can be fixed surgically. It's complicated surgery and the recovery is no fun at all, but it was definitely worth it to me. If you get to the point where it just hurts too much, be sure you see a real foot expert. My guy--he's a miracle worker, really--is in Seattle. If you can't find anyone on your own, let me know. I'd be willing to ask him if he can recommend anyone in your area. |
