Yes, it generally will get better with treatment. Be sure you're not doing some things that sabotage your treatment. For example, don't ever let your bare feet touch the floor, and that includes the shower floor. If you're having that much pain, even showering barefoot will irritate the situation. Get some shower shoes, and be sure even your houseshoes have good support. Are your doing stretches? You should be along with some other exercises that help. Ask your doctor about them.
As for shoes that are suitable for interviewing, and won't hurt your foot, I sweat by Mephisto. They have many styles and some look dressy enough for anything related to business.
Hope some of this will help. I've been there and I know why you think it will never get better. It will improve but it takes a lot of time.
