ok, so i feel like we are getting closer to our goal of understanding where each other is coming from.

First off, yes, James has some universall truths in it. But, b/c it's addressed to the 12 tribes if you think that something James says is a universal truth it must also be echoed in Paul's epistles.

Second, I also 100% believe that James says works are required to complete salvation. No arguement there. But again, I believe this talking to the 12 tribes during the tribulation. My arguement is not WHAT James is saying, but WHO he's saying it to; and if it matches with Paul.

As far as the phil 2:12 verse goes and can try to answer it in 2 ways:
1) the next verse says it is Gos who works in us
2) the emphasis on this verse is not on thw words "work out" but on "your own". This is because Paul is no longer present with them, so he tells them to do it themselves instead of Paul having to teach them the way to salvation.
