First of all Glenn, Thank you for this great big source of information. Just scanned through the last 3-4 months of the forum and learned a lot.

I bought a new SeaPro 228 CC w/200 hp 4 cyl Verado a couple of months ago. So fare I love the boat and the engine, but I am still a bit worried about how reliable DTS is. I have experienced a couple of bugs so far, but without any effect on the engine. Took the boat 18 miles out in the Atlantic this weekend, so I am starting to get over “my digital fear”.

The first bug I experienced the RPM gauge lost contact with the engine. As mentioned no effect on the engine, but I did not like it. I keep the boat on a trailer, and noticed in the evening that there was still light on the gauge. The main switch was turned of, and the gauge was still showing the msg “lost contact”. I was planning to take the boat to the dealer, but disconnected the battery to not drain the power of it. When I reconnected the battery the day after the problem was fixed. I am surprised that the gauge is connected directly to the battery and not by the main switch – is it supposed to be like that?

An other question, my speedometer only works when I reach 15 miles or so is that normal? When I try to use the trolling mode (based on speed) I get the message that I need to connect a paddle, I thought it used the one on the engine? If I connect the gauge to my plotter will it use the GPS speed also for the trolling mode? And would this also effect the distance traveled – I am not sure how this is calculated but I would gess it is based on speed and time.

I filled the tank full before went out this weekend and the gauge showed 104 gallon which is the “official” fuel capacity. When I came back after running 55 miles or so it still showed 104. I am sure the engine is fuel efficient, but… I guess I must have burned 15-20 gallon. Does any have a clue? Should I try to reset the gauge, disconnect the battery or disconnect the fuel sensor to see if it fixes it self? Maybe the floating sensor got stuck??

Thanks again for putting this forum together!

Magnus
