Thank you! The site/article you referred to is excellent. I thought the surgery would be the "hard" part, but recovery is certainly a huge challenge.
Do you have any other sources that may address recovery issues? (ie: rates of recovery, time tables, PT exercises, orthotic use, etc.?) I know that there are a lot of theories and opionions out there, and I have to use intelligence and disgression, but all I have to go on right now is a top-notch surgeon's comment regarding my injury in particular. I asked if I could expect to be able to hike again after 6 months of recovery. He said that I MAY be walking fairly well on flat after 6 months, begin gentle climbs at about 12-18 months and trail running would come much later as complete recovery would take about 2 years.
I also want to know if I should continue wearing orthotics for the rest of my life, or should I try walking/exercising without. My surgeon doesn't deal with recovery issues and the PT I had was inexperienced with liz franc. |
