I was also diagnosed with "plantars" in both feet November, 2006. I was also told it will heal itself in time. I have a friend who spent $6,000 doing all the treatments and it took him 18 months to recover. I got the New Balance shoes and the orthodic inserts. The boot the insurance paid $250 for was a joke and didn't keep my foot at the proper angle. My husband made me some and they are wonderful. I wear them at night. But the best money I've spent so far is buying a pair of Dansko shoes. I jokingly call them my combat boots but I wouldn't trade them for anything. I'm going to see if they have a pair of sandals that give as much support so I can be a little more stylish this summer. I put them on before I even get out of bed in the morning. They give the heel a bit more elevation than the New Balance and for me that makes a big difference.
