. . . the lies that other doctors . . . those who can't perform these (MIS) type of procedures are constantly telling about us and our work. I too have had totally false and malicious rumors told about me by competing doctors in my area. Now that minimally invasive surgery (in all branches of medicine) is getting the great and positive exposure it deserves, these lies are being shown up for what they are.

The rhetoric is ALWAYS the same from these guys and gals.

1. That residency trained, Board Certified surgeons with years of formal training under the best that podiatry has to offer somehow are incapable of performing those procedures, which most MIS enthusiasts have learned at week-end seminars where practice management and slick sales pitches are often stressed more than surgical technique, and which perpetuate the "See-One/Do-One/Teach-One" philosophy where the ultimate experimental animal is the trusting and unsuspecting patient.

2. That these purveyors of MIS present an economic threat to the traditional, properly trained surgeons (aside from the fact that they often taint the otherwise good name of the profession).

3. But most egregious of all is the bold-faced implication and the clear intent that the basically uniformed public be deluded into inferring that these blind, often crude and unnecessarily traumatic procedures bear any relationship whatsoever to the state of the art truly minimally invasive procedures being developed and employed in other surgical disciplines where endoscopic visualization and superior hand-eye coordination are key.

Shame on any of you, who use such "slight-of-word" with the intent of placing their bottom line above the good and welfare of the patient.
