I am a diplomate of the ABPS in both foot and reconstructive rearfoot and ankle surgery. I work in an orthopedic surgical practice. There are 3 podiatrists in our area who are under investigation by the NYS Education department. They have countless malpractice actions against them, have no malpractice insurance, and hide their assets in others names. I cannot divulge their names, however you can call the state investigator's office to file another complaint if you wish. Not a month goes by where I don't see another "MIS nightmare". 2 weeks ago I saw another pt who had non-unions of Akin & 5th metatarsal osteotomies and overlapping hammertoe deformities with resected bone left at the site. She underwent ORIF with bone grafting OPENLY!! As for MIS techniques taught in ABPS approved surgical residencies... show me which ones! Were you at the ACFAS meeting in New Orleans? No mention of these techniques there or at the AOFAS meeting in Washington. (I was there too). Put you money where your mouth is and show me some evidence on paper that there have been evidence-based studies, documented surgical curriculum for residency programs on these techniques and endorsement by the ACFAS, AOFAS and ABPS and I'll listen. SHOW THIS TO ME OR SHUT UP!.
