I do run in almost exclusively salt water. I do the standard hose flush at home after fishing. I do not live in Florida and my boat sits on a trailer. Must be great to be in a position to run the boat 2-3 times a week! I have allways been under the assumption that an outboards enemy is time and corrosion rarely hours used. That is why if I can get to it I like to run the motor on the trailer every week or two it has not been used (have been doing it for 40 yrs now with muffs on OMC and yamaha). Our local merc dealer uses only Merc standard Muffs with the stainless wire ( no nose cone). If I am Vigilant and watch the motor for the 3 minutes I run it, will it make a difference at idle if there is no nose cone cover. Big bucket just not practical for me. Got enough stuff in my back yard.
