nothing except it allows you to run the motor on land...Merc wrote me today..their instructions were very specific:

the flush port should be used with the engine OFF and that gets the flushing job done...period

if you need to run on land for service work (like the filter) or to run it every few weeks instead of winterizing, use the special muffs that block the front nosecone holes...
