Hello. Before bunion surgery on my right foot my metatorsal was at a 48 degree angle. Now it is between a 25-30 degree. The doctor tells me that I have nerve damage and a loss of cartolage that prevented him from straightening the toe further. I am six months post op on this foot now and am still experiencing pain.
I am also three months post op on my left feet having a bilateral bunionectomy. The doctor tells me that the x-ray shows that my bones are completely healed. I am still having pain with this foot as well.
I am and avid runner and my doctor recommended that I try running about 6 weeks ago. During every attempt I was in suvere pain within 10 minutes. My feet both swelled to the point that I couldn't get my shoes on. I was unable to even stand without pain. My last attemp was four days ago and I am still in pain. I spoke to my doctor about this and he said that I may never be able to run again. Should I give up on running or should I just give it more time? How long should it take to recover from bunion surgery?
Thank you,
