Come on now, doc . . . We both know that only in a hospital setting can the patient have good assurance that the surgeon is qualified to perform the procedure which he or she is undertaking. Just as in Las Vegas . . In the office, what happens there, STAYS there. Not so in the hospital. Incompetece, there, sees the light of day. Without breaking the law an M.D. dermatologist may do brain surgery in his office . . but that would never happen in a hospital . . even a bad one. If, in fact, you actually have hospital priveleges, you might personally PREFER to do your surgery in the office but to cateorically state that, "Modern foot surgery should ONLY be performed in the office." is a total denial of fact.
I have no problem with your opting to do your surgery in the office or on your kitchen floor if you so dare. That's between you and your patient. But making a statement such as you opened with is frankly ludicrous. |
