Modern foot surgery is the equivalent of dental surgery. NOBODY in their right mind would ever consider any type of hospital stay for dental work. What would you tell a family member that was told they need medical clearance, blood tests, EKG or a chest x-ray for dental surgery? Infection rates for office-based MIS surgery is just about nill compared to traditional and/or hospital surgery because there are no stitches, wires, pins, screws or casts employed. In addition the patient's can shower and get their bandages wet the day of surgery. Face it...patients all over the country are DEMANDING the minimally invasive approach to almost every type of surgery. |
