Since nearly 99% of the most commonly treated foot deformities can be corrected using minimally invasive procedures patients across the U.S. are seeking out doctors that perform these procedures. Even if a doctor has not obtained the training and experience to perform these procedures he has an ethical obligation to inform them that these procedures do exist. Most pods will not even mention that these procedures even exist...knowing full well the patient would run out of their office seeking a doctor to perform these cutting edge procedures. Even though these procedures are now almost 40 years old they are finally becoming mainstream. Years ago these procedures were taught by a Dr. Probber (considered by many to be the father of modern MIS) to thousands of practitioners but today a young doctor must learn from a fellow academy member or someone board-certified by the AAFAS. The podiatry schools don't even teach these procedures as the surgical staffs fear for the loss of their jobs. Doctors who have learned these procedures from inadaquately trained "friends" are doomed for disaster. |
