I have looked into the history of Percutaneous Minimally invasive surgery both in podiatry and in general. This kind of surgery has been met with great resistance whenever it has been developed. Doctors who were unable to or unwilling to properly learn the techniques constantly ridiculed those procedures. They were threatened economically and that is the worse thing you can do to a doctor (or lawyer for that matter). Doctors who did these procedures were prevented from getting into hospitals and even had their ability to be in the hospital revoked. This includes minimally invasive hernia, gall bladder, eye, orthopedic back and of course, foot surgery. Your sad story is not new. Great ideas have always met with great resistance from small minded people. This is the truth. You know it and I know it.
I have found the doctors who do minimally invasive percutaneous foot surgery to have been just as qualified as you say you are. They know their stuff and can spout protocol as well as you. I have seen the requirements for board certification from several boards. They are quite stringent with both oral and written exams. Many case studies must be submitted as well before you can be allowed to use the term "board certified".
You claim you have been chief of surgery for decades. You know what they say..those who can, do. Those who can't, teach. Those who can't teach, administrate. You've been administrating too long. Time to move on to the real world. |
